About us.

Carrie Hryniw - Musician, Educator and Owner

My name is Carrie Hryniw, though my students call me Miss Carrie.😊 I’ve been a music teacher in Edmonton, Alberta for more than 20 years.

I’m a professional musician and songwriter, active in Edmonton’s music scene, and the founder & creator of Inspired School of Music. You can learn more about us here.

We are a small and mighty, ever-growing music school made up of students and teachers that are passionate about music, learning, sharing and having fun!

Our mission at Inspired School of Music is to create life-long musicians that will one day look back on their music lessons with joy and fondness.

We look forward to having you join our community of learners!

How we teach.

We Create

As well as learning to read and perform your favourite music, you’ll learn to improvise, compose, and even write songs!

We encourage freedom of expression by teaching easy frameworks that allow you to explore sound in ways that feel simple and liberating.

We Get Great Results

Whatever your goals may be, we’ll help you achieve them! Our teachers have experience in teaching all styles of music, as well as the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum.

You’ll learn to play with confidence, great technique, and artistry!

We Collaborate

We encourage students to collaborate with siblings (or friends!) to play duets or form musical ensembles.

Teachers play duets and improvise with students in weekly lessons and in group classes!

We Perform

Each June, we end the school year with a recital in which all students are encouraged to participate.

Our recitals are non-pressure, low-key, with a focus on sharing your hard work and gifts with parents and loved ones.

You’ll have the opportunity to practice performing at our monthly Group Classes/Open Stages.

We Learn Through Movement

One of the most fun and effective ways to learn rhythm is through movement and playing games!

You’ll learn rhythm fundamentals by stomping, tapping, clapping, snapping, and all of the above!

We Play Games

Are you up for some Musical Simon Says? How about a Note-Naming Spelling Bee? Shall we play in the Rhythm Gym? You’ll have so much fun!

Our teachers are equipped with games and learning resources, and have all kinds of fun tricks up their sleeves!
