About Us

Our mission.

At Inspired School of Music, our mission is to spark the love for music in each of our students. It doesn’t matter your age or skill level, we believe that everyone can become skilled in music.

We are friendly, upbeat and positive, with the aim of inspiring lifelong musicianship in all of our students.

Our values.

We strive to teach every student in the manner that suits them best, and to help each student reach their goals. We bring warmth, joy and positivity to every lesson.

Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.

Our beginnings.

We are a small, but mighty, and ever-growing crew of music educators that came together in 2023 to share our passion for music with our students.

We offer weekly one-on-one music lessons, monthly masterclasses, year-end recitals, workshops, and so much more.

Miss Carrie

Hi! I’m Carrie Hryniw, founder of Inspired School of Music. I’m a classically trained pianist and I studied Piano Pedagogy at the University of Alberta where I attained a Bachelor of Music. I also work as a songwriter & composer, and am an active musician in the Edmonton community. I play and teach piano and guitar, and I teach music theory and songwriting.

I love music, and I love teaching it! I first started teaching music when I was in high school. My first students were the kids I babysat!  I continued to teach while in university, and for the next couple of decades.

Classical music is one of my favourite genres, though I teach everything. I believe in good technique, and the importance of reading music. I also believe that music is creative, and that it is freeing (and fun!) to be able to improvise and play by ear.

Many adults I know had negative experiences with music lessons when they were kids. They don’t play music at all as adults. My goal at Inspired School of Music is to help students become lifelong musicians.

Music is so many things. It’s a language that doesn’t require words. Though I also love a good lyric. 😉 It’s a way to connect to others. It’s a conduit to express emotion. And maybe, most importantly: when you have music in your life, you are never alone.
